Bach Ma National Park is
located only 60 km south of Hue. The park covers an area of 22,031 ha and was
created in 1991 to protect the centre of the last corridor of forest stretching
from the South China Sea to the border with Laos. With steep mountains and dense
forests this area is home to a wide variety of animals and plants and as a
result Bach Ma is recognized as one of the bio-diversity centre of Indochina.
Day 1: Hue - Bach Ma
National Park
Departing from Hue,
we’ll drive 60 km to Bach Ma National Park. Bach Ma summit offers a range of
unique trails for those interested in wildlife and history or who simply wish to
enjoy the distinctive natural beauty of the park. A five-hour trek this
afternoon through sub-tropical forest will take us to the Ngu Ho and Do Quyen
Waterfalls. Tonight, we’ll stay overnight in the park’s guesthouse. (L, D)
Day 2: Bach Ma National
Park - Hue
Following breakfast,
we’ll commence our trek to the summit. This is the most popular trail at Bach
Ma. After one hour walking uphill, we’ll reach the peak, 1450m above the sea
level. From here we can admire the spectacular views north to Hue and south to
Lang Co beach and several lagoons. From the summit, we’ll make our way through
sub-tropical evergreen forest. The trail which passes the ruins of several
French era villas is renowned for observing birds. Our trek ends at the Orchid
Collection House near the guesthouse. After lunch, we’ll return to Hue. (B,
