Vietnam’s forests
remain relatively unexplored and only recently have several areas been
designated as nature preserves to protect the countries’ existing and endangered
species. In some of these parks exist a wide variety of plant, bird, and mammal
species including those listed in the World Red Book. Cuc Phuong National Park
is one of Vietnam’s most important nature reserves. The Park’s primary tropical
rainforest is home to an amazing variety of wildlife and in recent years several
species have been discovered here.
Day 1: Hanoi – Cuc
Phuong
From Hanoi, we drive
to Cuc Phuong National Park. Once we have settled into our rooms we will visit
the Endangered Primate Rescue centre and learn a little of the work that is
being done to preserve the endangered native primates. (D)
Day 2: Cuc Phuong
National Park
Rising this morning
with the sounds of the forest all around us, we commence a whole day trek that
will take us through the lush rainforest, past centuries old trees and to caves
once inhabited by prehistoric humans. Returning to our accommodation in the
heart of the forest we will spend a second evening drifting off to sleep to the
sounds of the nocturnal activity outside. (B/L/D)
Day 3: Hoa Lu - Hanoi
Departing Cuc Phuong
this morning we trek to Cay Sau before making our way back to Tam Coc where we
