Camp Leaky Orang-Utans

A great experience trip, to visit Orangutan Research and Rehabilitation Centres in the Tanjung Puting National Park to meet the Orangutans (pongo pygmaeus) one of the human closest living relatives in Animals Kingdom (besides the Chimpanzee and Gorilla in Africa) who live freely at their natural habitat.

In this unique and “romantic” adventure trip we take you for fascinating days visiting the orangutan research and rehabilitation centers: Camp Leakey, Tanjung harapan and Pondok Tanguy in the Tanjung Puting National Park at Central Borneo Province. We will use “klotok”, a traditional fisherman boat which have been modified to carry tourists and explore the quite Sekonyer river to visit the centers while experience the magical atmosphere of the rain forest. Natural tannins darken the pure the river water and provide beautiful reflections.

We will walk around the centre to meet the orangutans, the proboscis monkeys, gibbons and other endemic fauna and exotic flora of Borneo. You can either spend the nights on the boat surrounded only by the magical jungle sounds or in the comfortable lodge or a combination of the two.
