The Inca Trail

A fascinating trekking route from Alausi to the famous Ingapirca fortress of the Inca-Cañari period. Enjoy the colonial city of Cuenca and much more

 

 

Day 1 Arrive Quito and transfer to your Hotel.

 

Day 2 Today we have an incredible drive through the avenue of volcanoes from Quito To Riobamba. We will enjoy phenomenal views of Chimborazo and other high snowy peaks of Ecuador. We will stay overnight at a Riobamba Hotel. (B)

 

Day 3 Today we will start on the first stage of our Inca Trail trek. We will be starting in the highlands of Achupallas at 3200m and finishing in the ancient Inca Fortress of Inga Pirca at 3000m, the most important Inca monument of Ecuador. During the trek we will cross the high pass of Tres cruces at 4250m and walk past lakes, rich in mystery, of the Inca period. We drive from Riobamba to Achupallas village and trek to Filo Corral at 3600m. (Trek time 4hrs) (B,L,D)

 

Day 4 We continue our trek to Paredones at 3800m. (Trek time 6hrs) (B,L,D)

 

Day 5 Today’s trek will take us to Posada Ingapirca. (Trek time 5hrs) (B,L,D)

 

Day 6 We complete our trek and transfer to Cuenca, the Cultural Heritage centre of Ecuador and one of the most beautiful cities in South America. Overnight in Hotel. (B,L)

 

Day 7 Half day city Tour, afternoon free at leisure. (B)

 

Day 8 El Cajas is one of biggest lake areas of South America with more than 300 lakes at an elevation above 3500m. During the Inca Period, 1500 BC, they built a famous incañan or trail system to communicate from the high lands of the northern Inca Empire capital "Cuenca" with the coast. Until today it’s possible to walk on these spectacular trails, which cross this fantastic eco system. We transfer to the Cuenca miguir village and trek to the Luspa camp at 3400m. (Trek time 2hrs) (B,L,D)

 

Day 9 We continue our trek to Osos Lake camp at 3600m. (Trek time 5hrs) (B,L,D)

 

Day 10 Today we trek to Ilavicu Lake (6hrs), and transfer to Cuenca and again enjoy the charm of this city. Overnight in Hotel. (B,L)

 

Day 11 Explore the surrounding areas of Cuenca. (B)

 

Day 12 Drive to Banos, one of the most touristic cities in Ecuador. Overnight in Banos Hotel. (B)

 

Day 13 The water fall circuit trek is a walk through fascinating cloud forest. Overnight in a Banos Hotel. (B,L)

 

Day 14 Visit to the Indian market of the region and drive back to Quito. Overnight in a Quito Hotel. (B)

 

Day 15 Transfer to airport for departure. (B)

 

All our treks include 

  • Private transportation
  • English or German speaking licensed Mountain guide
  • All camping equipment, kitchen tent, dinner tent, toilet tent, two man tents for clients.
  • Cook, porters and horses for all camping equipment and 15 kg personal luggage per person. 
  • Tourist class hotels based on double occupancy.
  • Full board during trek.
  • American breakfast only in hotels and lodges.
  • National park and reserves fees
  • Communication system by UHF and mobile phone.
