Hello Jane,
Sorry not to have been in touch before to thank you for arranging our excellent
trip to Sumatra. Everything went reasonably smoothly (at least as smoothly as
it can in Indonesia) and our 3 local guides coped very well with any problems as
they arose. The main difficulty was getting to Siberut Island as the ferries
run infrequently and are cancelled if the sea is at all rough. Our guide in W
Sumatra had to change the order of our itinerary because of the ferry problems
which meant that we had less time on the island than expected. Siberut
was fascinating and living with the local people a real experience but trekking
conditions were difficult due to the mud (calf deep in places) and the fact that
we had to balance on wet slippery tree trunks to cross the many rivers and
streams. Because of this, we usually ended up sliding down the muddy banks and
wading through the rivers before hauling ourselves up the bank on the other
side! One thing to note for anybody planning to visit the island is that no
porters and no sleeping mats are provided. Visitors definitely need something
to cushion the hard wooden floors in the houses and as trekkers are permanently
wet and muddy there is little point in changing clothes daily. We ended up
wearing the same outer clothes for most of the time (hope we didn't smell too
bad!) and keeping something dry to wear at night.
Best wishes,
Rosemary

Dear Georg,
Re: West Papua and Sulawesi
We arrived home safely, though rather jet lagged on
Sunday evening. We hope you had a good flight and are now enjoying your time in
Ireland.
Many thanks for arranging such a fascinating and
enjoyable adventure for us in West Papua and Sulawesi. We were extremely
impressed with the organisation - everything worked like clockwork (even though
"rubber time" usually prevails in Indonesia!) and the guides were excellent
- always informative, courteous and helpful.
West Papua really was a fantastic and
memorable destination and we would have no hesitation in recommending this
adventure to anyone who enjoys a real ethnic experience and who is happy to live
"basically".
We have some wonderful photographs and video - will
you be placing any of yours on your website? If so we shall look forward to
seeing them.
Thanks also for your good company and the many
Bintangs shared!
Best wishes,

Hi Jane,
Wow....my trip to Indonesia was fantastic, I enjoyed every minute and seeing the
orangutans was an awesome experience and a dream come true for me. Thank you so
much for all your hard work & would you pass on to Across Indonesia my thanks -
I could not fault the work of the guides, they were so welcoming and helpful. I
honestly can't think of any negative things to say about the trip. The trip way
surpassed my expectations and I am completely satisfied.
Thank you again & I'm sure we'll be in touch regarding my next adventure -
Africa in June!
